Congressional Districts & Contact Info
With Geocodio, you can add Congressional districts, as well as add Representative and Senator contact information, to addresses or coordinates.
To append this data, simply select "Congressional Districts" in Step 3 of the spreadsheet upload process, or use the "cd" field append with the API.
The following data points are returned:
Congressional district
Congress number (ex., 119th)
(For the current Congress) Senator/Representative name, email, website, and more. See below.
Redistricting
Geocodio’s Congressional districts are up-to-date to reflect the most recent redistricting (the 119th Congress for the default, with 120th Congress available as preview).
We continue to monitor court cases and map adjustments, and update districts whenever they are adjusted. See our redistricting page for more information.
By default, data for the current Congress (119th) is returned, but you can specify districts from a particular Congress. Congressional district data is available for the following Congresses:
120th Congress (preview - see below)
119th Congress (current) (default)
118th Congress
117th Congress
116th Congress
115th Congress
114th Congress
113th Congress
Preview: 120th Congress (cd120)
Congressional district boundaries for the 120th Congress are available as a preview via the (cd120) append. The data is accurate based on current information, but some states may receive updates as final redistricting changes are published. The default field append continues to use the 119th Congress (cd119) until the 120th Congress convenes on January 3rd, 2027.
OCD-IDs: Open Civic Data Division Identifiers (OCD-IDs) are a new data inclusion as of the 118th Congress.
Special District Numbers: Per U.S. Census Bureau specifications, the following rules apply:
States with a single Congressional district (i.e. Vermont), will return special District Number: 0.
Districts with non-voting delegates (i.e. Washington DC) will return special District Number: 98.

Finding Congressional districts via ZIP codes
Due to the irregular shape of Congressional districts, we strongly recommend using street addresses or coordinates if you have them.
If you only have ZIP codes, Geocodio can return likely districts.
With the Geocodio API, you can get all possible Congressional districts, ranked by overlap. You can also supply a city to get a list of all districts that cross that city’s boundaries (such as all districts that represent Boston). See more here.
For spreadsheet uploads, Geocodio will return only the the most likely district—i.e. the Congressional district with the greatest amount of overlap with that ZIP code.
Representative and Senator biographical and contact info
When you add Congressional districts, you can also get information about the Representative and Senators for free.
Select "Add legislator data" under "Congressional districts" in Step 3 of the upload process. (It is always included in the API output.)
We only provide member information for the current Congress.

Cost
Requests are billed as geocode + Congress info (i.e., two lookups). For example, if you have 100 addresses that you want Congressional contact information for, that would count as 200 lookups.
If you're on our pay-as-you-go plan, you can calculate how much this will cost you and how long it will take here. All data appends are included for no additional cost with Self-Serve and Enterprise Unlimited plans.
API to add historical Congressional districts
You can also get Congressional districts back to the 113th Congress via both our API (go to API docs) and spreadsheet upload.
Please note, we do not return historical legislator information.
Sources
Congressional district boundaries are sourced from the U.S. Census Bureau as well as individual states when necessary due to mid-cycle redistricting.
Member data is sourced from the United States project on Github, an open source project maintained by journalists.
